1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Sentinel Media Inc. (“Sentinel Media,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit our websites, use our mobile applications, or otherwise interact with our services (collectively, the “Services”).
This Policy applies to all consumer mobile applications published by Sentinel Media Inc. on the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, and through our websites, including sentinelmedia.co.
2. Who We Are
Sentinel Media Inc. is a Wyoming corporation that builds consumer mobile applications that organize publicly available online content into clean, searchable, real-time feeds. Our operational address is:
270 West 500 North
North Salt Lake, UT 84054
United States
Email: hello@sentinelmedia.co
3. Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: (a) information you provide directly to us, (b) information that is automatically collected when you use our Services, and (c) information we receive from third parties.
3.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information. When you create an account in one of our applications, we collect your email address (used for authentication and account recovery). If you sign in using a passwordless one-time-code flow, we receive your email address; we do not receive or store your password.
- Phone number (optional). If you opt in to SMS alerts, we collect your mobile phone number and your consent record for those alerts.
- Communications. If you email us, fill out a contact form, or otherwise communicate with us, we keep a record of that communication.
- Subscription and billing information. If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) in accordance with their respective payment terms. We do not receive your full payment card details. We receive only the limited transaction metadata Apple or Google provides us (transaction identifier, product purchased, country, and renewal status).
3.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device and usage information. When you use our applications, we may collect technical information about your device (such as device type, operating system version, mobile country code, language preference, app version, and timezone) and usage information (such as features used, screens viewed, sessions, and crash diagnostics).
- Push notification token. If you grant permission for push notifications, we receive and store an opaque push token issued by Apple Push Notification service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) so we can deliver alerts to your device.
- Read state and preferences. Our applications record which items you have viewed and which items you have favorited, so we can present the application in a way that reflects what you have already read.
- Log data. Our servers and our service providers automatically log information such as IP address, request timestamps, and response status, for security and operational purposes.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Our websites use a small number of cookies and similar local-storage mechanisms for essential functions (such as keeping you signed in or remembering your dark/light preference). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
3.3 Information From Third Parties
- Publicly available online content. Our applications aggregate publicly available content that has been posted by named third-party sources (for example, public posts, public broadcasts, and public articles). This content is collected from publicly accessible web locations or public APIs. We do not collect private messages, private accounts, or any content that is not publicly available.
- Authentication providers. If we offer sign-in through Apple, Google, or another identity provider, we receive the basic profile information that provider shares with us (typically a stable user identifier and an email address). We do not receive your password.
- App store transaction status. Apple and Google provide us with information about your purchase and subscription status so we can grant the entitlements you paid for.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including delivering the content feeds, push notifications, and SMS alerts you have signed up for;
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- Process subscriptions and manage entitlements;
- Personalize your experience (for example, by showing items you have favorited or hiding items you have already read);
- Communicate with you about your account, transactional notices, security alerts, and customer support;
- Monitor and improve the Services, including diagnosing crashes, debugging issues, and understanding which features are used;
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our terms;
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and lawful requests.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your personal information to serve targeted advertising on behalf of third parties.
5. How We Share Information
We share personal information only in the limited circumstances described below:
- Service providers. We share information with vendors who help us operate the Services (for example, hosting, authentication, push notification delivery, SMS delivery, crash analytics, and customer support). These providers are contractually limited to processing information on our behalf for the purposes we direct.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of Sentinel Media, our users, or the public.
- Corporate transactions. If Sentinel Media is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of company assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
- With your consent. We may share information for any other purpose disclosed to you and to which you consent.
6. Third-Party Service Providers
The following categories of service providers process personal information on our behalf. Each provider has its own privacy practices, which we have reviewed for appropriateness.
- Cloud database and authentication. We use Supabase (operated by Supabase, Inc.) to host our application database, manage authentication, and deliver real-time data to our applications.
- Push notification delivery. We use Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for iOS devices and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM, operated by Google) for Android devices to deliver push notifications.
- SMS delivery. If you opt in to SMS alerts, we use Twilio Inc. to deliver text messages to your phone number.
- App distribution and payments. Apple Inc. (App Store) and Google LLC (Google Play) distribute our applications and process subscription payments.
- Email delivery. Transactional emails (such as one-time sign-in codes and account notifications) may be delivered through email infrastructure operated by Microsoft (Microsoft 365) or other transactional email providers.
- Crash and performance diagnostics. We may use diagnostic services provided by Apple, Google, or other reputable vendors to identify and fix application crashes and performance problems. These diagnostics do not include the contents of your personal communications.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. We may retain certain information after account deletion for legitimate business purposes such as legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and enforcement of our terms.
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by emailing hello@sentinelmedia.co. Once a deletion request is verified, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within thirty (30) days, except where retention is required by law.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. All connections between our applications and our servers are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Authentication credentials are never stored in plaintext.
No security program is perfect, and no method of electronic transmission or storage is one hundred percent secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Regardless of where you live, you have the following choices regarding your information:
- Access and update. You can view and update your basic account information from within the application's account settings.
- Delete your account. You can request deletion of your account at any time by emailing hello@sentinelmedia.co.
- Push notifications. You can disable push notifications at any time from your device's system settings.
- SMS alerts. If you have opted in to SMS alerts, you can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message we send, or by removing your phone number in the application's settings.
- Email communications. Transactional emails (such as sign-in codes and account notices) cannot be turned off while your account is active, because they are required for the Services to function. Any optional marketing emails will include an unsubscribe link.
10. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”) give you specific rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and (if applicable) sell or share about you;
- Access the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete personal information we have collected about you, subject to certain exceptions;
- Opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law;
- Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information — we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger this right;
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny services, charge different prices, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised your privacy rights.
To exercise these rights, email hello@sentinelmedia.co with the subject line “California Privacy Request.” We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.
11. European and UK Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) or equivalent law gives you the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — to obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- Right to rectification — to have inaccurate personal data corrected;
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — to have your personal data deleted, subject to certain exceptions;
- Right to restrict processing — to limit how we use your personal data in certain circumstances;
- Right to data portability — to receive your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format;
- Right to object — to object to certain types of processing, including processing based on legitimate interests;
- Right to withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal;
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country.
Our legal bases for processing your personal data include: performance of a contract (to provide the Services you have signed up for), our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the Services), compliance with legal obligations, and your consent (where applicable, such as for marketing communications or optional SMS alerts).
To exercise these rights, email hello@sentinelmedia.co.
12. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at hello@sentinelmedia.co and we will promptly delete that information.
In some jurisdictions, the age threshold for parental consent is higher than 13 (for example, 16 in parts of the European Union). In those jurisdictions, our Services are not directed to users below the applicable threshold.
13. International Users
Sentinel Media is based in the United States. If you use our Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Data protection laws in these countries may differ from those in your country of residence. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers.
14. Do Not Track
Some web browsers transmit “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no industry-standard interpretation of these signals, our websites do not currently respond to them. We do not engage in cross-site tracking of our visitors.
15. Third-Party Content and Links
Our Services aggregate and display publicly available content from third-party sources (for example, public posts, public articles, and public broadcasts). When you tap on a piece of content to view it on its original source, you will be taken to a third-party website or platform that has its own privacy practices, which we do not control. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the Services. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification or an email to your account address). Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of a revised Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
